Steve and Lyn Burnhope moved to Aylesbury to join the Vineyard Church in the summer of 2012. They became Associate Pastors in early 2013 and succeeded the founders, Mick and Lynn Elias, when they retired in September 2013.
As Senior Pastors, Steve and Lyn lead the pastoral team and between them oversee the main ministry areas. They play the principal role in setting the vision and direction for the Church.
Steve and Lyn both became Christians when they were teenagers. Over the years, they’ve served in a variety of roles helping to lead and build churches, including worship, teaching and children’s work.
Lyn studied at the London School of Theology for a Bachelor of Theology Degree and then a Masters Degree. She’s a qualified Religious Education teacher, who’s worked in local secondary schools. Lyn loves spending time with family and friends, swimming and playing the piano.
Steve also has a Masters Degree from the London School of Theology and a PhD from King’s College London. His PhD Thesis was published by Wipf and Stock in 2018 under the title: ‘Atonement and the New Perspective’ and can be purchased on Amazon or from Aylesbury Vineyard. Steve has a business background in the City of London. Outside of family and Church, his main passion is rugby union, especially his beloved Harlequins.
The Pastoral Leadership Team includes Assistant Pastors (Andy and Valerie Gilbert and James Tweats) and Young Adults Pastors (Luke and Rachel Martin).
The Church also has a large staff team, details of which are available in our events magazine, Vineyard Life.
